Why should I try Micro-Needling instead of Laser Treatments for acne scar removal?

Laser Treatment for acne scar removalIf you are an acne scar sufferer you’ve probably been looking for an effective acne scar treatment.  As you research how to remove acne scars, you’ve probably learned about laser treatments online or at your physician’s office.  You’ve probably also seen the claims that laser treatments also work by using your skin’s natural collagen to minimize acne scars.

But there is a significant difference between what a laser treatment does and what Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) treatment with an Original German Dermaroller ® does. We’ll go over the differences between the two.

Firstly there are primarily two different types of lasers that can be used.  There are Resurfacing or Ablative Lasers and Non-Ablative Lasers.  Ablative lasers work on the outer layer of your skin while non-ablative lasers work on the middle layer.

Ablative laser treatment removes the outer layers of your skin, literally.  Scar tissue is burned and melted away which stimulates the collagen in your skin to tighten, which in turns reduces the appearance of the acne scar.  Ablative laser treatments involve a lot of post-treatment wound care and infection prevention since the protective outer layer of the skin was removed.  Recovery time can take several weeks or months.

Non-ablative lasers are not as powerful and not as damaging to the skin.  This type of laser treatment targets the middle layers of the skin by heating the existing collagen, causing it to degrade and atrophy,  to help tighten the skin to minimize the appearance of acne scars.  One type of non-ablative laser treatment uses a fractionated laser which delivers the treatment in pulses rather than a steady beam.

What are the differences between Laser and CIT treatments?  The biggest differences are cost, treatment and recovery time.  No matter which method you use, laser treatments or collagen induction therapy, it will take several sessions to treat your acne scars.  The recovery time is longer between each laser treatment than it is with CIT using a Genuine German Dermaroller®.  The recovery time with laser treatments is longer as heating and burning of the skin layers is part of the treatment process.  Costs will vary from provider to provider, and some costs may be covered by insurance.

With Collagen Induction Therapy with a Genuine German Medical Dermaroller ® the procedure is different.  Micro-needling helps your body to naturally create more collagen.  It is does not burn your skin. It tightens what is already there and it helps your body to produce more collagen and to regenerate tissue.  This is an important difference.  Increased collagen fills the marks left by the acne scars. Collagen Induction Therapy is an effective all-natural acne scar treatment that stimulates your skin to produce new collagen.

Which is the best option for you?  Don’t be shy about discussing this with your healthcare provider and asking them about the procedure, what it does, how it works, how many treatments you will have and how long they will last. With Medical Dermaroller ® you can be confident after just a few office visits that you will have natural healthier looking skin.
