Warning: Fake claims about CE marked rollers being circulated
Many of the medical aesthetic practitioners out there will have received an email from White Lotus Anti Aging regarding their “CE certified” needle roller, they say they have their own clinic and supply antiaging products from their website with a PO Box address in Banbury, Oxfordshire.
We at Genuine Dermaroller™ were pleased they recognised that the minimum standard should be CE certification as a sterile medical device, so we thought we would get a colleague to order one. It arrived in packaging and labelling that was obviously not compliant with the medical device directive, it stated White Lotus Anti Aging but the address listed was in Australia!! It did though have the mark CE0197, this refers to the German medical device notified body TUVRheinland. So we sent the information and pictures of the product and packaging to our Genuine Dermaroller™ German colleagues to check this out. They contacted TUVRheinland who replied that they had never heard of White Lotus and had no record of their claimed certification. The translation of their response is below. Interestingly there is a section on the White Lotus website “Why you can trust us” & “Derma Roller Truths”.......
Genuine Dermaroller™ provides German medical-device engineering & manufacturing expertise, the device patients and practitioners can trust.
TUVRheinland reponse:
"Dear Mr. Fisher, Thank you for your request. We have checked the documents you provided and inform you that we could not identify any matching certificate relating to our database given the information you provided. For more detailed information please contact the manufacturer, the importer or your regional authority (Trade inspection or Office of occupational safety). We are very happy about your interest, since we want to make sure that only products we have certified carry our approval mark. Since the abuse of approval marks is known in isolated cases, we are very interested in clearly acting against such cases. It would be very helpful if you inform your regional authority if you are suspicious of an abuse in order to allow them to take measures for consumer protection."
